Lightweight expanded clay aggregate (or LECA for short) is an inorganic material that can be used at the bottom of a pot as a drainage layer, or in the place of soil in semi-hydroponic setups. It drains well, does not compact or decompose, and can be disinfected to be used over and over again, making it a great medium for indoor plants.

Packaging

Figaro’s Garden LECA is packaged in recycled paper bags that are 60% compostable and 40% biodegradable. These bags are lined with PLA, a biodegradable, corn-based material that strengthens and improves the durability of the bag. While PLA is compostable in many jurisdictions, it is not yet accepted in Vancouver’s green bin program. Please responsibly dispose of these bags by placing them in the trash.
